Tofino
Named after the Tofino Inlet, itself named in 1792 for Spanish hydrographer Vincente Tofino de San Miguel, this area boasts one of British Columbia’s most prized nature reserves, Pacific Rim National Park. In fact, at Tofino’s doorstep is the Clayoquot Sound region, a world UNESCO biosphere reserve and a vacation in Tofino offers the best way to experience BC’s pristine wilderness first hand.
Ucluelet
Ucluelet, British Columbia, is a cozy resource-based town located about 35 km south of Tofino. Geographically, the Pacific Rim National Park sits between Tofino and Ucluelet. The population of Ucluelet is roughly 1700 people and most jobs are resource-based. Tourism is quickly changing the face of Ucluelet, as those who have experienced the natural beauty of Tofino are searching for new environments to enjoy. While Tofino and the Pacific Rim Region are world renowned for their long sandy beaches, Ucluelet offers a more rugged but equally stunning coastline.
