Located on a cul-de-sac in the exclusive nieghborhood of Vista Las Palmas, The Fair is a stunning 2 bedroom, 2 bath home, built in 1960 with stunning west facing views of the San Jacinto Mountains. It is centrally located and an easy 10 minute walk to all the restaurants, shops, and entertainment downtown Palm Springs has to offer. Vista Las Palmas is a historic community and was home to numerous Hollywood stars, motion picture executives, and other celebrities. The house next door was the home of Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee.
The interior design of this home was inspired during a painstaking year long restoration, drawing inspiration from antique Japanese screens, the home now provides a Zen-like, Asian decor. The eclectic mixture of mid-century modern and Asian furnishings, silks, artifacts, and original works of art add to the setting. Colors are subtle, floors are covered with natural colored carpet conveying the look and texture of Japanese tatami mats, while exotic palms rest beneath exposed sand-blasted ceilings.
Lush oleander and palms surround the rear yard, a space of complete privacy divided into two distinct environments. On the south side are a pool, fountains, and outdoor kitchen. The north side is a park with a large lawn and a soothing waterfall, and the home's landscape is bordered by channels of tumbled river rock that reflect the colors of the home and the desert surroundings. And at night, while the interior rooms are warmly lit, the grounds comes alive, lighting framing the huge palms and cactus beneath the star-filled sky. |
